three sisters...

Last weekend Lisa and I did a hike out in East San Diego called Three Sisters named for the trio of cascading waterfalls.  We've had quite a bit of rain this year in San Diego so there was plenty of water moving.  Lisa wore a bathing suit under her hiking clothes with the hope that we might actually go swimming, but it turned out to be a cool day with on and off drizzly rain.  There was one brave chap who slid down the third waterfall like a big water slide, but judging by his reaction, the water was pretty chilly.

We brought Finn along but unfortunately we had to keep him on the leash as we were warned that rattlesnakes are commonly spotted along the route.  This meant that he was right on my heels the entire 4 mile hike, constantly darting right and left in hopes of sneaking by me, but instead was repeatedly knocked in the chin by my heels.

It was actually a fairly strenuous hike with a significant change in elevation which made for an easier hike down on the way in, but a challenging return trip.  At one point we actually had to rappel down a particularly steep granite boulder section.  We were actually thankful for the cool weather as we made the ascent back up to the car.  As expected, we all ended up with some dusty/dirty feet.

We finished off the hike with some tasty sandwiches from Claire de Lune in North Park.Overall it was a nice hike that we would definitely do again, hopefully on a nice sunny day next time.  Let us know if you are interested...
